And I can show the trophies of the apostles. 1 For if you choose to go to the Vatican or to the Ostian Road, 2 you will find the trophies of those who founded this church.

  2. The mss. and the Chronicon of Georgius Syncellus read Vasican, Basikanon. The reference is to the Vatican as the traditional burial place of Peter, and to the Ostian Road as that of Paul. ↩
