ABISHAI




ABISHAI, son of Zeruiah, David's sister, and brother of Joab and Asabel, was one of the most valiant men of his time, and chief general in David's armies. He vanquished Ishbi-benob, a descendant of the Rephaim, the head of whose lance weighed 3OO shekels of brass, (2 Sam. xxi. 16.) and lifted up his spear against, and slew, 300 enemies, xxiii. 18.
