Eusebius, mistaking it for Eglon, places it ten miles east of Eleutheropolis ; Jerome, eleven. Rehoboam rebuilt and fortified it, (2 Chron. xi. 7.) and Judas Maccnbieus encamped in the adjacent plain, 2 Mac. xii. 38. When David withdrew from Achish, king of Gath, he retired to the cave of Adullam, 1 Sam. xxii. 1 ; 2 Sam. xxiii. 13.
