We know little about Thietland; he arrived at the monastery of Einsiedeln, in Swabia, modern-day eastern Switzerland, sometime between 943 and 945, nine to eleven years after it was founded in 934.  He wrote commentaries on several of the Epistles of St. Paul: Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians, Philippians, and 1-2 Thessalonians.
