Who hath given testimony to the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, what things soever he hath seen.

Oecumenius

He has used this method in the gospel, too, so preserving the trustworthiness of his teaching. He said there, “This is he who is bearing witness to these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true,(John 21:24)” and now, he says, he is the witness of that divine word which was seen by him, which refers to the present Revelation and the witness given by Christ, that is, “By means of the witness I am witness and author.”

St. Andrew of Caesarea

"Christ", he says, "declared thèse things to me through an angel, as the Master to a household servant, as I had born witness to my confession to him," of which, on the basis of the visions (he is) to bear witness and, in view of the return (to God) of those who hear, to preach both the things which are and which escape understanding and the things which will occur in the future, for prophetically, he had seen them both. And (this is) clear from what he says: those which are and those which must corne to pass. Thèse are descriptions of both the présent time and of the future.

testimony. That thou mayest not doubt of the person of John, he is the same who gave testimony to the eternal Word of God incarnate, according as he saw, saying, "Whose glory we saw, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father. Jn 1:14"

St. Beatus of Liébana

“Who hath given testimony to the Word of God.”

‘Clearly, him who has proclaimed the Son of God, and asserted His Divinity, “and” handed down “testimony of” our Lord “Jesus Christ, what things soever he hath seen” in Him, and heard from Him.’

And he tells of this ‘in his Epistles (1 John 1:1), saying: “What we have seen, and what we have heard…and our hands have handled of the Word of Life; for the Life was manifested”, and we show Him to you.’

Who testified to the word of God In the beginning of his gospel with respect to his eternal emanation saying, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (Jn. 1:1)”; with respect to his temporal incarnation, saying, “And the Word was made flesh, etc.(Jn. 1:14)” Therefore, he adds: And to the testimony of Jesus Christ, That is, concerning Jesus Christ. To all that he saw In His way of life, in His miracles, in His death and resurrection, as he makes clear in the outline of his Gospel.

1:2 things soever he has seen: He has used the same style in the Gospel too, as to preserve the truthfulness of his teaching. He said there, "This is that disciple who gives testimony of these things, and hath written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.(Jn. 21:24)" (Oecumenius)
